It depends on the severity of the cataract. When a cataract is present, the light is scattered, which can make it difficult to see the retina clearly. In some cases, the cataract may be so severe that it is not possible to get a good image of the retina at all. This issue is not only true for the VIVA but is also applicable to most fundus cameras on the market since they use the same imaging principles to capture a retina photo.
